Sites - The Storey Centre
I don’t think you would find another school like this in Newham. From the outside it looks like a prison, but is much nicer inside.

I have been trying to trace Elizabeth Street, where I lived, and the Infants School; it would appear that the street has been renamed Woodman Street, and the school is now the Storey Centre. If this is the case, then I started school there in January 1936, just after my fifth birthday. I was only at school there for about three years, after which time we moved to Chislehurst, Kent.
I would appreciate any information on when the street changed its name, and any photos of the school and the street, particularly the houses backing onto KGV dock, as I still remember seeing Cunard liners in the docks.

Oh wow. I still remember walking down them hallways. & still remember the smell. I started this school in nursey all the way up untill year 3 (2003) when it closed down. I miss this school so much! They were the best years of my life so far. Its a shame to walk past this school everyday and remember how it used to be to how it looks like now a prison. I still don't know why this school closed down. Still remember the whole school sitting in the hall and singing Celion Dion - My heart will go on , Just before it closed down. Some amazing memories.
